Latest release (October 2026)
The latest release of GroupDocs.Redaction for Node.js via Java is version 26.10 (October 2026) — the first public Node.js package on npm. It permanently removes sensitive content from documents through a unified Node.js API: redact text by exact phrase or regular expression, scrub or rewrite metadata, black out image areas, rewrite or delete annotations, remove pages, and rasterize the result so redacted content cannot be recovered — all on-premise, with no MS Office or OpenOffice required.
Installation
npm i @groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction@26.10.0
Or install the latest published version:
npm i @groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction
Highlights
- First Node.js release — install from npm and call the redaction API from JavaScript.
- Text redaction — replace or box text matched by an exact phrase (case-sensitive or not) or a regular expression.
- Metadata, annotation & page redaction — erase or rewrite metadata, rewrite or delete annotations, and remove pages.
- Image-area redaction — black out page regions; improved positioning for embedded images.
- Custom PDF page-area handlers — plug in your own match logic via
ICustomRedactionHandler. - OOXML compliance on Word save — choose Ecma, Transitional, or Strict when saving Word documents.
- Broader spreadsheet support — XLT / XLTX / XLTM / TAB; DrawBox skipped for text-only CSV / TAB / TSV.
- Rasterization to PDF — flatten the redacted document so content cannot be recovered.
Quick start
const redaction = require('@groupdocs/groupdocs.redaction');
const redactor = new redaction.Redactor('document.docx');
try {
redactor.apply(new redaction.ExactPhraseRedaction(
'John Doe',
new redaction.ReplacementOptions('[personal]')));
redactor.save();
} finally {
redactor.close();
}
